Max and Erin
What a beautiful couple. Of course looks really mean very little in the long run but it was difficult watching them dance without thinking that they would certainly improve the gene pool!

Debi Mazar: Most Feather-frenzied Costume
Too bad Debi Mazar's festive feathers couldn't distract from her stiff dancing: That was the whole idea here, right?

Maksim Back on Broadway in Burn The Floor
Both Maksim Chmerkovskiy and Kym Johnson will be off to NYC to dance in the Broadway rendition of Burn The Floor, a fast-paced and thrilling review of dance styles and the limits of the human body to express music. Maks was a fan favorite in this unique Broadway show prior to Season 9 and it's wonderful that he'll have the opportunity to have fun once again. So happy for this talented dancer!

DEBI MAZAR - THAT BEAUTIFUL FACE IS FAMILIAR
We're loving this talented lady. Debi Mazar, foremost, is authentic. She's no BS, she doesn't fluff and flatter or brag (except sarcastically). She's real. What a refreshing personality she is!!!
Her chatter is ultimately fascinating and charming, if non-stop. Rather than irritating us, she makes us laugh for all her light and self-deprecating playfulness.
Her character acting credits are too numerous to list here, but most folk (those away from Disney teen shows) recognize her and remember her truly fine performances. She plays the edgy and faux-tough New Yorker girl, with a pitch perfect accent when needed. She's very good at it.
She loves to dance, but like many, she misses the wild abandon of dancing the clubs compared to the "proper" ballroom dancing she signed on for. But she's fit, funny, and willing to work very hard at it. So she's my kind of "Star" -- the kind who should go far.

Week Two -- the Artistic Tango
OMG Most of the viewing audience likely did not understand the music or the stylistic dancing Maks choreographed to fit it. Debi was far more composed and gorgeous without the heavyhanded makeup from week l. Her dancing was much improved, but still in need of improvement -- apropos of an amateur at Week Two.
However, the show was liberally sprinkled with selective negative clips of just the tense (not the happy) moments from their practices. The audience was set up to be angry at Maks for "making Debi cry" when the truth of the situation was totally not known. Debi's hilarious personality was masked entirely by the stern tango face, and once again, she did not reveal her true nature for the voting public. I swear that some celebs are set up to fail on a schedule to meet the preordained outcome ABC wants. I hope Debi and Maks let their joy for dancing just bust out next week -- and the voters respond to the more true partnership of hard work and great fun. Let the samba roll . . . . .

Week One -- Debi is nervous
Have you seen any of the interview clips of Debi Mazar as herself? This is one funny, intelligent, and sassy lady. She is so much fun to watch with Maksim! They have constant chatter going on -- outside of the practices, of course.
Week One found her very nervous and thinking far too much about her routine -- an affliction common in Week One and Two. She was darling and performed her cha cha much better than the scores indicated, compared to subsequent dances and scores.

Does Decreased Rehearsal Time = Increased Injury?
With the new format for training (that being decreased rehearsal time), we have seen that most of the stars have been battling nerve problems. So many of them have feigned being "really nervous". I don't remember that being such an issue in previous seasons. Now, do you think that with the decreased rehearsal time that stars and pros are pushing the time they have and injuries are resulting? Injuries have always been an issue but in two weeks, Debi has ended up in a neck brace, Tom hurt his toe, and Lacey has injured thigh and hip muscles. It will be interesting to see how the season will progress.

Maks: Jerk, or just a tough instructor?
It only took two shows for Maksim Chmerkovskiy to get Debi Mazar to cry. Has he ever had a partner who hasn't cried? It has to be him, right?
Or is he just being a demanding teacher, in a good way, and his partners are taking it too hard? I mean, Debi seems like a bit of a drama queen.
