Judges' Comments:

Bruno: Spectacular, spectacular! Mini-Fred Astaire you are. You were in command of the performance, and doing that on week two is incredible. The danger is, you have to live up this.

Baz: I saw your first performance, and it’s remarkable to see a performer growing. It was a real quickstep, it was clever, and it was a real show.

Carrie Ann: That was truly a pleasure. What’s so nice to watch about that routine was the contact in your hold was ridiculous – it was so good, it was so close, it was so tight.

Judges' Comments:

Bruno: There is an incredible buzz in this room tonight, I can feel it. And you’re part of it. Relax a little bit more. A lot of tension goes on your top.

Baz: The quickstep is such a difficult dance. In the beginning of that dance, we could see you as a sportsperson thinking of something that’s hard to do; the second half, you were being the music, and you light up the room.

Carrie Ann: So far you’re one of my favorite competitors. I think you move so well. I need you to think of Alex as an extension of you.

Judges' Comments:

Baz: That is the real deal. That is fantastic. Taking the dance, claiming the dance, telling a story with it, making it your own and not being overpowered by the dance. That was a fantastic thing to see.

Carrie Ann: Len would not have liked the beginning (a little theatrical bit where Mya removes Dmitri’s outer garments). He would have been angry. Mya, you disappear into the dances, it just becomes one great performance.

Bruno: Mya the magnificent! Original, inventive, it was like seeing Josephine Baker and Clark Kent. You really are a great performer.

Judges' Comments:

Bruno: We wanted content, and you gave us content. Everything was there for a proper quickstep. Obviously it’s difficult – it’s got to be quick, it’s got to have a lot of movement. This is the way to improve.

Baz: I love the way you confront the challenge. You are just a natural performer, and I really love that. I just think it’s gorgeous and fantastic.

Carrie Ann: Compared to last week, this is like a touchdown. I know I was very hard on you last week, but you came back and delivered the goods. I love the way you worked as a team, that’ll set you apart.

Judges' Comments:

Carrie Ann: Last week I thought you weren’t going to last long, you were too beige, but this week you’re bright red.

Bruno: You’re like two flittering ladybirds, but you have to be very careful. There was so much going on up here [waves arms] and down there sometimes fell to pieces.

Baz: Big, big improvement, but your steps could use some work.

Judges' Comments:

Bruno: What a great performer! If only you could get your feet under control! You made a few mistakes, but you are a good dancer. Keep going.

Baz: I thought that was an incredible comeback after the first fall. You could have fallen apart and you did not. I think you could really be a great ballroom dancer.

Carrie Ann: It was very ambitious. You’re very tight and clean when you dance. You need to breathe a little more, relax a little.

Judges Comments:

Carrie Ann: You have so much joy when you dance. It’s exciting to watch, your energy is contagious. But you had some moments where you lost touch with the music a little bit.

Bruno: Cool dude in the hood. There were a few sections that were very good jive, the rest you were just mucking about. You can do much better than that, because you have the ability. We want you to come back here and just blast it.

Baz: You have so much joy in it, you’re a great couple. The jacket works a little bit against you, I think. I just thought it was tremendous and joyous and what a jive should be.

Judges' Comments:

Baz: Your story, to me, is much greater than a dance or this show. There’s an incredible self-revelation that coming to you through the way you’re doing. There were mistakes, but what a fighter. There’s something fantastic going on here, so don’t give up.

Carrie Ann: You’re kind of the opposite everyone else, you’re building this wonderful technique baseline that’s what get you through the numbers. Tonight the pressure was on you to live up the expectations, and once you let go of your guard, you have to stay in character, and that’ll keep you going through it.

Bruno: When you got it right, I was looking at Even Peron. You can do it, it surprised me. But it went very wrong with the mistakes. You could be amazing, but oo many mistakes were made.

Judges' Comments:

Carrie Ann: As a full presentation goes, this suited you much better than the salsa. What I find a little disturbing is you’re so reserved, and you have to break through that. There are 14 people, and we need you to stand out.

Bruno: You’re beautiful and elegant to look at but you have to be engaging. You can’t dance the quickstep two miles apart. She’s so good-looking, bring her closer. Allow her to express herself, it’s part of the job. That’s what you have to do.

Baz: Elegant, beautiful, all those things, but the quickstep is an exciting dance. And you really have to attack the dance.

Judges' Comments:

Carrie Ann: Great energy, you’ve got gusto. But the jive’s all about the feet, and I thought your feet were a little spastic. I feel like it got out of control sometimes.

Bruno: Joanna, I can see you thriiiiive on being driven hard. You don’t hold back, and I like that. With the jive, you have to keep it clean. But, don’t hold back, girl.

Baz: You’re a great couple. It’s tremendous and exciting, but I’d like to see a little more actual relationship, just connecting. A relationship expressed through dance.

Judges' Comments:

Baz: Well, I love the song (“Roxanne”), but that dance, that tango, is about a love-hate relationship. Playing out that story was really an achievement. I think you did fantastic.

Carrie Ann: Debi, you are the drama queen, and that drama queen worked it on the dance floor.

Bruno: I love it when you’re channeling the feisty ball breaker. Keep on that. Assert yourself, because it works.

Judges' Comments:

Baz: I don’t know what Uncle Len would say about that – I think he might rip you to pieces. Seeing you, who are so strong…your ability to face fear and the human story behind you, you embracing that… I thought it was fantastic.

Carrie Ann: I was a little frightened. Sometimes what we’re looking for is impact, and that dance had impact. You fully committed to it.

Bruno: Savage and primeval, but always a tango. I can the work you put into this. You worked very, very hard. You really are a competitor.

Judges' Comments:

Bruno: Secret Agent Osmond, mission accomplished. That was well pitched, well executed, you just played it with a touch of John Travolta. You did a very, very, very good jive.

Baz: The dance is accurate, all those things. I just think it’s fantastic that dance knows no age. You seem so full of life. It was a joy.

Carrie Ann: This is why the name Osmond carries so much weight in this business – that was an amazing performance.

Tom DeLay and Cheryl Burke

Judges' Comments:
Carrie Ann: There’s something very alluring about watching you two dance. You’re an oddly well-matched couple. I felt the tango was very appropriate

Bruno: You nearly pulled it out of the bag: distinguished, determined, it went to pieces but you approached it the right way.

Baz: Your holds are extremely strong, and I thought you had great dignity and grace.
