What a beautiful couple. Of course looks really mean very little in the long run but it was difficult watching them dance without thinking that they would certainly improve the gene pool!

Max is so handsome and talented - the choreography and dancing up and down stairs while holding Brandy - WOW! But please, Max, leave your attitude backstage.

Both Maksim Chmerkovskiy and Kym Johnson will be off to NYC to dance in the Broadway rendition of Burn The Floor, a fast-paced and thrilling review of dance styles and the limits of the human body to express music. Maks was a fan favorite in this unique Broadway show prior to Season 9 and it's wonderful that he'll have the opportunity to have fun once again. So happy for this talented dancer!

Maks: Jerk, or just a tough instructor?

It only took two shows for Maksim Chmerkovskiy to get Debi Mazar to cry. Has he ever had a partner who hasn't cried? It has to be him, right?
Or is he just being a demanding teacher, in a good way, and his partners are taking it too hard? I mean, Debi seems like a bit of a drama queen.

I get that the editing is done and takes stuff out of context. I get that stars can be divas and a pain in the ass. And I don't like the way that Cheryl or Anna teach either. I think Cheryl can be seriously bitchy. What I'm saying is that a teacher's job is to do one thing, get the best from his/her students. And if they aren't getting the best from their students, they have to adapt and change. If Maks is fed up with Debi talking in practice, he should talk to her about that, not take it out in other ways. I see a lot of potential in Debi and it's not being brought out. I also see her trying really hard. I don't think he needs to hold her hand, but if being somewhat more gentle gets a better response out of her, then why not do it? It's because he has a temper, and that's his problem, not hers. And I also get the cultural thing, he was brought up tough. So what. He needs to get over it and do what he was brought to DWTS to do, and that's to teach. I know if my paycheck depended on it, I would be trying to figure out and communicate with my student on the best way to teach them. So in the end, he's really just hurting himself. You can still be a tough teacher without being an ass. I've had plenty of teachers that demanded a lot but weren't a-holes about it. And a student will do more to make a teacher they like happy then a teacher they don't like. Taken out of context or not, the clips were demeaning.

If you get to know him, you all will. Maksim's story is fascinating. He came to the US as a youth, having begun dance training in Ukraine at age four. Maks suffered a leg-shattering ski accident at about 14 years old, and was told he would not walk normally and never dance again. He showed his strong personal determination by proving the docs wrong and soon was winning competitions again.
Maksim competed internationally with great success until he decided to join DWTS to help promote ballroom dance through American TV. His appearances for DWTS have all been aimed at promoting ballroom dance in the USA as a healthful sport.
His ABC persona is only a defensive facade, I fear. Maksim is all heart and caring and talent behind the scenes. Yes, he's guilty of blunt statements that sometimes seem politically incorrect. On the other hand, he doesn't deceive anyone . . . he is totally honest and authentic, admirable in the la-la land of US entertainment.
Maksim is no rock star, by choice. He is a dancer, because he loves to dance. He is a businessman, promoting dance in general and his own studios in particular. He also is a dazzling showman and choreographer for ballroom dance shows. His productions range from intensely artistic to light comedy.
Don't just buy that phony persona that ABC has built for Maks. Take Tom Bergeron's assessment to heart, "Maks is tough on the outside but inside he's a marshmallow." Perhaps this fact is why he was chosen one of America's Most Eligible Bachelors by People magazine.
There is so much to love about Maksim . . .
