 Maksim Chmerkovskiy has been wowing the ladies on Dancing With The Stars since Season 2, when he finished in sixth place with actress Tia Carrere. He's next taught Willa Ford and then enjoyed a third place result with the beautiful Laila Ali. Maks' best finish was in Season 5, when he and singer Mel B became fan favorites with their banter and beautiful dancing, but lost to Helio Castroneves. Mel B's season contained some of DWTS best dances ever and remains a truly loved former celeb years later. Maksim owns several dance studios in the New York City area, and is involved in dance-related non-profit work. He's won numerous ballroom dance competitions in the Latin style. He is known for his choreography for the Las Vegas water ballet at La Reve and appeared on Broadway with rave reviews in the fabulous Burn the Floor. Maks also choreographed and led the fan favorite DWTS Winter Tour 2008-09. Maks even took his arduous dance training to the sports fields this summer and became the Champion Superstar with his partner Kristi Leskinen of freestyle skiing fame. They beat out teams with pro athletes from football, basketball, baseball and soccer. Maks backed up his assertion that dancers are prime athletes. Maks has been unfortunately absent far too much in recent seasons. Olympic Gold Medalist Misty May Treanor tore ligaments in her ankle and was out for the season after only a couple weeks. He then was partnered with Denise Richardswho was voted off in week two. This season Maks is enjoying feistyactress Debi Mazar for Season 9. Follow Maksim on Twitter!
