| Professional partner: Jonathan Roberts Bio: Macy Gray was born Natalie McIntyre in Canton, Ohio. Growing up, she was noted to be shy and awkward, and she attended a boarding school when she was a teenager. She studied piano for many years and she was exposed to many different types of music. Her singing voice was discovered while attending USC in Los Angeles. This led to singing jobs in hotels and a coffee house, where she ultimately signed a recording contract. Her first album was never released by Atlantic Records. She later signed with Epic records and her first album "On How Life Is" was released. Many will remember her huge hit from that album, " I Try", for which she won a Grammy in the category of Best Female Pop Vocal. Professionally, she has collaborated with many artists, but later albums have not seen the success of her first. Macy is a divorced mother of three: Aanisah, Tahmel, and Cassius. In 205 Macy opened up The Macy Gray Music Academy, where underpriveleged children and teenagers are given a chance to perform. Macy and partner Jonathan Roberts were eliminated from Season 9 of DWTS in the first week. |
