Jewel Bio: Jewel was raised in rustic surroundings in Homer, Alaska, singing with her father in local bars. She began writing songs as a teenager, and for a time lived in her van while travelling and performing in California.

Her 1995 debut album Pieces of You peaked at No. 4 on the Billboard chart and included hit singles "Who Will Save Your Soul?," "Foolish Games" and "You Were Meant For Me," which peaked at No. 2 on the Billboard Hot 100. Successful follow-up albums include Spirit (1998, No. 3) and This Way (2001, No. 9).

In 2008, Jewel released her first country music album, Perfectly Clear, which debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard country chart.
This year, Jewel will be doing an acoustic solo tour for the first time in 12 years.

Jewel married her husband Ty Murray in August 2008, and they live together on a ranch in Texas. Ty will be competing on Dancing With The Stars this season, which would have been the first time that a wife and husband had competed against each other as celebrity dancers.
