Donny Osmond stated in early 2009 that he would not take part in Season 8 of Dancing with the Stars, because of scheduling conflicts. But he noted that he was offered to be in Season 9, and he accepted.

Anna Demidova won the Pro-Dancer Competition in Season 8, and is guaranted as a professional in Season 9. Tom Bergeron also stated that "...we will be seeing you also next season." to both Kym Johnson and Maksim Chmerkovskiy.

Julianne Hough also announced that she would not take part in Season 9, for she is concentrating on her music career.
